Micheal Wesch: A Vision of Student Technology

What I learned while watching this video is technology play's a big part in our lives today. Most of the time we as college students become so distracted in large parts to our computers, i pads, mp3 players and so on.  Many students use there laptops the whole time they are in class, watching the latest episodes of Jersey Shore or they are checking out there Facebook pages.

Watching this video I related myself to it. Because yes sometimes I am that student who is in class not listening to the teacher. Because I 'm checking my email or chatting with friends on Facebook. I know that it's an awful thing to do because school tuition is so expensive, and I'm there to learn no t be on Facebook. But the way I look at it as long as a get all my homework done and still make good grades. In college there are so many distractions with either friends , football, and Facebook.

Technology is both a positive and a negative for the average college student. The positive side of technology you can get the information you need quickly. The negative  so many students are consume with Facebook and Twitter. I believe that if they would devote as much time to there school work as they did there Facebook and Twitter.

Inconclusion technology is here, its an amazing tool that we has college students have at our finger tips. We should use it to better our academics not see what Marice in 3B is doing on Facebook.

" It's Not about the Technology" is an article written by:Kelly W. Hines. In this article she gives a list of four things that every teacher must recognize, so they can better connect with there student's.

1.) Teachers Must Be Learners

I totally and completely agree with Mrs. Hines. I believe that teachers must always be up to date on all different kinds of technology. I believe that if the teacher is more technological informed, they can better introduce technology to there students. Technology is continusally changing and having to date with his/ her technology is great for the students.

2.) Learning and Teaching are not the Same Thing.

Mrs. Hines makes a great point in this article. Anyone can get up in front of people and tell them about how something works. But a teacher not only introduces new information but they show there students how to put it to greater use. Sometimes there are some students who do not quit understand the information. For those students you may have to spend more time with.

3.) Technology is Useless Without Good Teaching.

Again, I completely agree with Mrs. Hines. At USA so many teachers have amazing technology at their finger tips, but most of them wont even use it because they have no idea how. In two of my classes at USA with two different teachers neither one of them have any clue how to use it.  One of them has a smart board in the classroom and has to ask the students all the time what she needs to do. While another still uses the old school projector using hand made sidles. I believe that because they are so technological literate  that they are holding there students back. I just believe that is a schol has the equipment then you should put it to work.

4.) Be a 21st Century Teacher Without The Technology

Technology is so important. Its one of the most useful things in today's world. But years ago when they did not have all the technology we do today I wonder how the teachers introduced all the information to there students. I can only image.

Karl Fisch: Is It Okay to Be A Technologically  Illiterate Teacher?

Mr. Fisch seems to be an amazing teacher. I agree with him when he says that we all should be learners to the entire technology world. As a future teacher I believe that we are suppose to teach our students as much as we can to help better themselves.  We can not just expect them to understand it on there own. Mr. Fisch said " If a teacher today is not technologically literate and is unwilling to make the effort to learn more- it's equivalent to a teacher 30 years ago who didn't know how to read and write"  This quote to me makes me wont to make sure that i take every advantage I can when it comes to technology.

Gary Hayes: So Media Count

When I first logged onto this page the number of comments made on Facebook was 1,485,635 within ten seconds the number was 1,908,551. Watching it I realized how technology is used in everything. Everyday technology is changing and this website just backs it up that much more.

  1. "I look at it as long as a get all my homework done and still make good grades. Is learning important to you at all? Do you really think that being an educator is what you should do with your life?

Would you be a better student if the way we organize and deliver instruction were different? What would those differences be? What impact do the answers to these questions have on what you should do as a teacher? Are they related at all?

When you first accessed Gary Hayes' counter the count for Facebook comments was 0. It always starts at 0 and increases at the rate of approximately 8,500 a second. Try it again and you will see what I mean.
